T-Shirt Quilt

I made a t-shirt quilt for my friend Terrie Weaver, who is moving to Texas. The hardest part was getting all of the shirts. I used the front and back of all the walk-a-thon t-shirts and the first t-shirt that the school had designed. Most of the walk-a-thon t-shirts were designed by students. I had most of them but with the help everyone was found. Marilee Botos machine quilted it for me. The 4th grade presented it to Terrie at the award assembly the last day of school.

Next Baby Quilt

The next quilt I made was for a friend's granddaughter (sorry Heidi, I will get Kara's done soon), so of course it had to be pink. I used the same pattern as the blue one. I like backing baby quilts with flannel. It makes them cuddly.

Baby Quilt

The next quilt that I tackled was a patchwork baby quilt. A teacher that I work with had a baby boy so blue was the colorway that I choose. This was the first larger project that I actually choose the fabric all by myself. I tend to struggle in this area.

Second Quilt

My second quilting project was a wall hanging for a birthday present. I combined quilting with some embroidery. I also made picture quilt wall hangings for all of my children of their family for Christmas.

Beginning Quilt

In this post I would like to start sharing my quilting journey. I have taken a few classes from a wonderful teacher--Val Krueger. Thank you Val. The first class that I took was Beginning Quilting. This is the quilt that I made...my very first. The two different blocks are the North Star and the Underground Railroad. I then machine quilted it.

First try!

I thought that it would be fun to keep a record of what is happening with us in Las Vegas. Especially with what we are doing besides work. School is out and I am looking forward to the time off. I my plans for the summer include a lot of quilting and time with the grandkids...Oh that also means with the adult counterparts.

I have taken up quilting this last year and I have really enjoyed taking classes and creating some quilts. I will post pictures of the ones that are finished already and then add more as I finish them. Currently I am taking a machine quilting class. I am also doing a block of the month quilt, a mystery quilt, and two more baby quilts.

We have adopted a dog this spring. She was suppose to be my dog but because of Terrall's work schedule she diffently his. Her name is Lucy Lu and she is a cutie. We really enjoy her. She is great company.
